The Meteorological Department has issued yellow and orange alerts for different districts in view of the possibility of dense fog and cold wave across the state from January 16 to 19. Also said that due to western disturbance, a drop in temperature from 3 to 8 degrees was recorded in most parts of western UP on Saturday. This decline will continue further.
Yellow Alert: Rae Bareli, Lucknow, Amethi, Barabanki, Gonda, Ambedkar Nagar, Sambhal, Badaun, Kasganj, Etah, Mainpuri, Etawah, Jalaun, Jhansi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur, Unnao, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Mau Most of the districts of Purvanchal including Deoria, Ballia, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj.
Orange Alert: Most of the districts of western UP including Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Mathura, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Amroha, Rampur, Agra, Firozabad.
Mercury will fall by 4 to 6 degrees
Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh told that due to the activation of Western Disturbance, heavy snowfall has started in the hilly states. Due to the icy winds coming from there, a drop of 4 to 6 degrees in temperature is possible in the state during the next two-three days. Cold day conditions will prevail in some parts of the state from January 16 to 19. More impact will be seen in Western UP.
