Union Minister Kiren Rijiju raised the issue of Nehru’s five blunders on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and alleged that the “friend first, India later” early Kashmir policy of India’s first prime minister in 1947 has given tragic consequences. In a tweet on Monday morning, the Union Minister attacked Jawaharlal Nehru on the issue of Kashmir. Rijiju’s reaction comes days after he wrote an article on ’75th Anniversary of 5 Nehruvian Mistakes on Kashmir’ on the anniversary of the accession of Jammu and Kashmir (27 October) to India in 1947.

The Real Story Behind Nehru’s “Punch-Bhool”
Rijiju tweeted, what actually happened? Why did Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru delay the inclusion of Kashmir in India and thus give Pakistan an opportunity to invade? The real story behind Nehru’s “Punch-Bhool” or 5 mistakes on Kashmir. Alleging that Nehru rejected Maharaja Hari Singh’s plea to join India thrice, the Union minister said the early Kashmir policy of former prime minister Nehru was defined by “friend first, India later”.

Rijiju tweeted- Nehru rejected Maharaja Hari Singh’s plea to join India not once but thrice. “Friends first, India later” defined Nehru’s early Kashmir policy in 1947. It had tragic consequences, for which India paid the price for seven decades. Earlier on October 27, Rijiju, while talking to ANI, accused independent India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru of committing five mistakes with regard to Kashmir.

PM Modi corrected Nehru’s mistakes as before
Rijiju alleged that Kashmir has become an issue unnecessarily due to the mistakes of the then Prime Minister Nehru and said it is important to correct the mistake and set the right narrative. Speaking to ANI, Rijiju said that Dr. Ambedkar had rightly said that those who forget their history cannot create history. That’s why it’s important that we realize mistakes. What our first Prime Minister Nehru did to Kashmir caused so much tragedy. National wealth wasted. This resulted in the loss of lives of soldiers and civilians. Because of that mistake, Kashmir has become an issue unnecessarily today. It is important that we correct the mistake and establish a correct narrative. PM Modi has corrected the mistakes made by Nehru as before.
