Himachal News: Life disrupted due to snowfall, 200 roads closed, 487 transformers stalled, blackout in many areas


The weather has once again taken a turn in Himachal Pradesh. Normal life has been thrown out of gear due to snowfall in Shimla, Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Mandi and Kinnaur. Due to fresh snowfall, 200 roads including three national highways have been blocked in the state. 487 Power transformers are dead. Blackout has occurred in many areas. Jakhu, the highest peak of the capital Shimla, received its first snowfall of the season in the early hours of Friday.

The hill of Jakhu has turned white. Light drizzle continues in the city. Snowfall continues in Kufri, Narkanda, Khadapathar and Khirki since Thursday night. Buses have been stopped for Upper Shimla.

Movement of small vehicles has been affected due to increase in slippage due to snowfall. Tourists have thronged the capital Shimla to witness the first snowfall of the season. Booking has increased in the hotels of the city. Business has also increased.

The police administration has issued an alert regarding snowfall in the upper areas of the capital Shimla. Police has instructed the drivers that the condition of Narkanda-Baghi-Khadrala road is slippery after snowfall.

These roads are unsafe for vehicles. Do not travel on these routes until the road is cleared. Use a safe alternate route in case of emergency.
