The barren desert of white salt spread for miles and small villages are settled around this barren desert. Even for the items of daily needs in the village, there is dependence on the remote town-like villages. Lakhpat is a place in such a desolate barren area. Abdasa is the constituency of this Lakhpat area adjacent to the Pakistani border. It is the number one assembly seat in Gujarat’s 182 assembly constituencies. The BJP and the Congress have been dominating this Muslim-majority area. But this time Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM has also entered this area with Muslim population. Amarujala.com visited the first assembly of Gujarat to understand the election situation.
Owaisi’s party will burglarize
Abdasa seat of Kutch district consists of three talukas namely Lakhpat, Lakhtarna and Abdasa. Hashim, a resident of Lakhpat area, says that even today there is a crisis of drinking water in this area. In most of the areas, one has to go several kilometers for shopping to get small essentials. Hashim says that actually such conditions have been created due to the geographical conditions of this area, but still there is a great need of development in this area of Kutch. Talking about the election atmosphere, Hashim says that this time Owaisi’s party AIMIM has also entered here. Although Hashim does not tell how much Owaisi’s party will do in this area, but he says that Owaisi’s party will definitely make a dent in Muslim votes. Mohammad Athar Raisi, a resident of Vadli village in the same area of Kutch, says that only two parties remain in the electoral fray here. In this, BJP and Congress have been contesting elections from the beginning. Raisi says that for the first time Owaisi’s party and Kejriwal’s party are in the electoral fray. However, referring to the politics of Gujarat as a whole, he says that with the entry of new parties into the electoral fray, people will have more options to vote. However, he refuses to say anything about how the results will be.
Sajid, a resident of Bhindayara village of this area, says that whatever development you are seeing here, it has happened only under the BJP government. Sajid says that due to being a Pakistan border, BJP has done a better job in this entire area with adverse geographical conditions from roads to border security and living to food and drink and essential things. He says that the Muslims of this area also vote for Modi only. When asked that this time Asaduddin Owaisi’s party and Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party are also in the fray, he says that it is better from the point of view of democracy, but people vote only in the name of their development and development of the region. .
BJP has occupied this seat since 2002.
Ali Bhai, a resident of Lakhpat, says that when only two parties have been here from the beginning, development must have been done by these two parties only. They say that some are more and some are less, but at least they bring about development. The situation has changed a bit this time, but it is difficult to say in what way the changed situation will translate into the election result. On the changed situation, he says that this time two new parties have entered the Gujarat elections. Ali says that there are more than 40,000 Muslims living in the Abdasa assembly constituency with a population of about 2.5 lakh. He says that the Muslims here have been voting in the name of development. Then whether it has been Congress or Bharatiya Janata Party.
From 1967 to 1985, the Congress held this first assembly seat of Gujarat, Abdasa. In 1990, Tarachand of BJP won this seat for the first time. Since 2002, the BJP has retained its hold in this area. However, in the 2017 elections, Pradyuman Singh Jadeja of the Congress party contested and won this assembly seat. But later he resigned from the party and when the elections were held again, Pradyuman Singh Jadeja joined BJP and once again became MLA from here. Congress leader and Bhuj Assembly candidate Arjun Singh says that there is a great need of development in the area bordering Pakistan and Arjun Singh alleges that the BJP has not done any work in this area for a long time through its MLAs. Even after having tax and government, there is a lack of basic facilities like water to roads and connectivity in this area.
