BJP and Congress changed candidates on these seats

Ahead of the crucial assembly elections next month, the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress have changed one candidate each in Wadhawan and Botad seats in Saurashtra region. After the seat was allotted, these candidates expressed their desire not to contest, after which this change was made. On Sunday night both the parties announced the change of their candidates.

In the Wadhawan seat of Surendra Nagar district, the BJP has fielded district unit president Jagdish Makwana in place of Jigna Pandya. Congress has given ticket to party spokesperson Manhar Patel in place of its district unit president Ramesh Mer in Botad.

The only MLA of NCP resigned

Nationalist Congress Party’s lone Gujarat MLA Kandhal Jadeja on Monday resigned from the party after he was denied ticket for next month’s assembly elections. Hours later he joined the Samajwadi Party and filed his nomination from his home ground, Kutiana. Out of the total 182 seats, 89 will go to polls in the first phase, which includes Kutiana.

Samajwadi Party’s Gujarat unit general secretary Ramsevak Sahni said that after resigning from the NCP, Jadeja formally joined the Akhilesh Yadav-led SP and filed his nomination papers on our mandate.

Sharad Pawar will lead the party’s campaign

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today announced that Sharad Pawar along with senior leaders will lead the party’s campaign for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections. The NCP has released a list of 31 star campaigners for the assembly elections, including former union minister Praful Patel, Maharashtra unit president Jayant Patil, senior leaders Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule, Chhagan Bhujgal.

The NCP is contesting the Gujarat Assembly elections in alliance with the Congress. The Pawar-led party will contest three seats in alliance with the Congress, Umreth (Anand district), Naroda (Ahmedabad) and Deogarh Baria (Dahod district).

Congress releases new list of candidates

The Congress on Sunday released a new list of 39 candidates for the Gujarat Assembly elections. This time Jignesh Mevani has been fielded from Vadgam seat.
