Earthquake tremors were felt in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday night at around 9:33 pm. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 4.1 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of five kilometers underground at Jogindernagar in Mandi district. Apart from Mandi, tremors were also felt in Kullu, Kangra, Bilaspur, Shimla for three to five seconds. Many people came out of their houses due to panic and ran towards open places. DC Mandi Arindam Chowdhary said that there was no report of any damage due to the earthquake. Tremors were also felt in Bhuntar and Manali.
On October 26, Chamba district of the state was also hit by an earthquake. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the tribal area of Pangi and its intensity was measured at 3.4 on the Richter scale. Apart from this, on August 17, two earthquakes of magnitude 2.8 and 2.9 occurred in Sundernagar itself. An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 was recorded in Shimla on 20 May. Earthquake tremors were felt in Kinnaur and other districts in February last.
