The ban on the entry of girls in Delhi’s Jama Masjid has been lifted after a day. According to Raj Niwas sources, Delhi LG VK Saxena spoke to Jama Masjid’s Shahi Imam Bukhari and requested him to revoke the order banning entry of women into Jama Masjid. Imam Bukhari has agreed to cancel the order.

Earlier, Delhi Women’s Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal had expressed her opposition to this decision. Maliwal had tweeted that as much as a man has the right to worship, so does a woman. I am issuing notice to the Imam of Jama Masjid. No one has the right to ban the entry of women like this.

Seeing the matter escalating, Jama Masjid’s PRO Sabiullah Khan clarified that the entry of single girls has been banned. The decision has been taken considering that it is a religious place. There is no restriction for those who worship.
